We run into this situation all the time. This happens mostly with AMD chips due to various FSB speeds. It has to do with the chip and bios setting. Your Motherboard timing setting (cpu clock speed) in the BIOS will be default at the lower speed in case you install a CPU chip running at 200MHz FSB. When installing a 266MHz or higher FSB, your Motherboard must firstly support this and you must have a qualified Technician make sure the settings are correct in the MB for the type of CPU you installed. If not, your CPU is basically under-clocked and will show running at a slower than rated speed. Call AMD at 408-749-3060 and they will walk you through the re-set. Also, you can try AMD's web based Technical Support.

The retail and OEM versions usually will have the same exact product, however the retail version usually will come with bundled software, retail packaging, and more bells and whistles so to speak. OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), White Box, Brown Box versions will come with the actual product and sometimes the drivers, but not much else. No special packaging or software. Usually, the retail version will be accompanied by a longer warranty. The OEM version is more for people who build systems and know what they are doing and do not require any extras.
Suggestion: Please visit the manufacturer's website to see what is included with the retail model. The manufacturer's site will likely NOT indicate what is included for OEM items. Instead, use our "More Images" link to see exactly how the item will ship.

The refurbished items have been opened and touched and/or returned. They should all be considered OEM, bare bones products. Because their origins can come from desperately different situations sometimes they come with some extras or in retail boxes. The refurbishment is by the manufacturer. There should be nothing wrong with them but they have only 15 days warranty period. So, if you purchase one, please check it out right away to avoid any problems. They should be just as the factory released them in an OEM condition. No extras.

Physical damage to any product will void the product's warranty. Modifying a product in a permanent way is considered physically damaged. Dreamhardware.com cannot honor warranty for CPU's that have bent pins, cracked or chipped cores, burnt or otherwise sustained any other type of physical damage. Physical damage voids any warranty previously implied for any product.
If our site states "Lifetime Warranty" that product warranty is covered by Dreamhardware.com to the initial end user who bought the item from Dreamhardware.com.
Most other items are 30-day refund from date of invoice and 1-year repair/replace, unless otherwise specified on by the item's description at the time of purchase.
Retail box items are warranted by the Manufacturer after 30 days from the invoice date. Dreamhardware.com will service our customers for Retail Box items during the first 30 days of purchase. If any manufacturer does not service end users, such as "only overseas" type with no contact or RMA procedures, Dreamhardware.com will honor the warranty listed on our website at the time of purchase.
OEM items come with a 1-year warranty, unless otherwise advertised, directly by Dreamhardware.com.

Physical damage to any product will void the product's warranty. Improper Installation of CPU fans and Improper clocking will cause CPUs to Chip. ALL CPUs that are chipped, burnt or have bent pins are considered physically damage. Dreamhardware.com will not replace or refund CPUs that are physically damaged. This may include but is not limited to improper handling and any kind of physical damage not caused by normal use. Bent pins are a common site in physical damaged cpu's. Forcing the chip into place will never solve the problem but will only result in voiding the warranty. AMD and Intel will not take these kinds of CPU's back from Dreamhardware.com Therefore; Dreamhardware.com must return any physical damaged cpu to the customer at the customer's loss.
